The tradition of graduation towers and its applications
In the year 1990, a so-called graduation tower was built in the public park situated besides a natural, salt water swimming pool, following the Werner bathing traditions. The graduation tower is a very large wall or tower made out of straw or blackthorn, designed in order to make water with lower salt concentrations suitable for the process to common salt in the factory. The surrounding air of the graduation tower is enriched with salt, creating a maritime climate, which has a healing effect on all sorts of respiratory conditions.
The graduation works is frequently visited by inhabitants from the city as well as tourists who come here to enjoy the calming atmosphere and natural surroundings. From the terrace, which came to its existence by a difference in elevation, one is able to enjoy the breath-taking view on the public park. In order to be able to enjoy the view on the beautiful graduation tower in evening hours as well, lighting has been installed which takes the visitor into cosy and homely atmospheres. The light beam aimed at the wall of the graduation tower lets every single raindrop appear as a falling star.
